B’nai Brith Canada signs on to ‘We Can Change’ campaign

TORONTO, January 26, 2010 – B’nai Brith Canada has written to Finance Minister Jim Flaherty in support of the ‘We Can Change’ campaign to raise the charitable tax credit from 29% to 42%.

“As a grassroots organization that depends greatly on the generosity of Canadians, we urged Minister Flaherty to consider making the ‘We Can Change’ campaign proposal a part of the upcoming budget,” said Frank Dimant, Executive Vice President of B’nai Brith Canada.

“In our view, a higher tax credit will encourage those Canadians who give generously to increase their donations, while, at the same time, encouraging others to become donors. In these difficult economic times, this proposal will encourage a climate of giving which we have already witnessed from the Haitian humanitarian crisis.”
